Who’s ready for an almighty Honda drag race!
We’ve got our hands on a standard Honda Civic Type R, and we’re about to put it up against a whole load of tuned Civic Type Rs to see if the various tunes and modifications have been worth it.
The Honda Civic Type R is powered by a 2-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder that produces 329hp and 420Nm. It sends that power to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual and weighs in at 1,429. The total cost is £46,995.
Now let’s take a look at the contenders:
Tuned FL5: 420hp, 570Nm, 1,430kg, £67,000
Tuned EP3 #1: 440hp, 450Nm, 1,204kg, £21,000
Tuned EP3 #2: 450hp, 360Nm, 1,204kg, £23,000
Tuned EK9: 505hp, 404Nm, 1,070kg, £45,300
However, if Mat gets beaten by any of these contenders, he has another car to jump into: an all-new Honda NSX! This is powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6, coupled with 3 electric motors. These combine to produce 581hp and 645Nm, with power sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed dual-clutch gearbox! It weighs in at 1,759kg, and as new it costs around £149,995.
BUT, that’s not all… There’s a final boss EJ2 Coupe waiting in the wings with an absolutely insane amount of power! Will it have what it takes to bring down all other contenders? You’ll need to stick with Mat to see for yourself!
Thanks to everyone who helped us set up this race:
